Jess Bendell works from home in a garden studio located in Muswell Hill, North London. Online lessons can also be arranged to better suit individual students or families who do not live locally.
After studying for a degree in English Language and Literature at Manchester University, Jess gained a PGCE in Secondary English and has since taught English in several top London secondary schools, both in the state and independent sectors. These include Fortismere School and NHEHS (GDST). At NHEHS, our founder was part of the interviewing panel and also marked 11+ entrance exams.
Jess has taught secondary English to students aged between 11-18, covering Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A Level. Private tuition is offered to this age range for students of all abilities, as well as 11+ English tuition. There is a passion for making Language and Literature accessible to learners of all ages and abilities, igniting an interest in writers' use of language that goes beyond the limitations of the curriculum. With many years of experience preparing students for public examinations, our founder takes pride in helping each student achieve the best grade possible.
While at NHEHS, Jess was fortunate to be offered the role of Special Needs Coordinator, which was greatly enjoyed. Currently, she works as a part-time advisory SENCO at St Margaret's School in Hampstead, providing support and guidance to children and their families.
During a career in the classroom, Jess also pursued and gained two further post-graduate qualifications. During a career in the classroom, Jess also pursued and gained two further post-graduate qualifications. The first was an MA in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies at The University of East London and the Tavistock Centre, which allowed for exploration of emotional factors in teaching and learning. Additionally, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Special and Inclusive Education (including the assessment of SpLD - Dyslexia) was obtained from the IOE.
Underpinning all work is a commitment to the individual child, ensuring that each student's experience is as enjoyable, challenging, and supportive as possible. Our founder maintains realistic yet ambitious expectations, and together with students, they often achieve more than either thought possible.
Jess Bendell works closely with Sarah Dolphin, who teaches Mathematics and Reasoning for 11+ preparation and co-runs teaching groups. After a successful career in business, Sarah turned her attention to teaching while raising her own family in Muswell Hill. Over the past fifteen years, she has successfully guided many children, often multiple siblings, through the challenging 11+ process.
Excellence in 11+ Maths
